FAQS

Profhilo promotes multi level dynamic facial bioremodelling. Remodelling the extra cellular matrix results in increased elasticity and support. This promotes and maintains the viability of fibroblasts, keratinocytes and adipocytes. Basically it restores and maintains cells within the skin to reverse the signs of ageing.

Profhilo is made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring product that can be found in our skin which is responsible for maintaining elasticity. Hyaluronic acid attracts and binds with water in the skin, providing volume and hydration which supports collagen and elastin fibres.

Unlike dermal fillers, Profhilo is pure hyaluronic acid. There are minimal chemical contaminants used in the manufacturing process therefore it is very unlikely you will be allergic to it.

There are certain medical conditions in which this treatment would not be suitable. There are a wide range of alternative cosmetic treatments available. It is possible that an alternative treatment may be more suitable. Please book in for a consultation to discuss your options.

Where do you buy profhilo?

The products are ordered and dispensed from a UK pharmacy. As an extra level of consumer reasurance HA Derma have listed preferred pharmacies as stockists. Jacqui will only buy direct from these pharmacies.

Does profhilo contain animal products?

Profhilo does not contain animal products.

Is it safe?

In terms of aesthetic products profhilo is relatively new and the safety data reflects that. To date there is nothing reported which is alarming. Jacqui is happy with the data available so far. Often with these products many of the dangerous side effects are due to the actions of the practitioner as opposed to the product. Apart from a few bruises, Jacqui has had no adverse events to date from either the product or the administration.

Should I consult my Doctor?

There is no need to routinely consult your doctor about profhilo treatment. This is a private treatment and therefore in the event of any problems post procedure, NHS treatment should not be the first port of call. We have a duty to use the NHS for genuine health problems not arisen from voluntary cosmetic treatment.

Are there side effects to profhilo?

As with all cosmetic treatments, there is a risk of side effects. These could cause pain, bleeding, inflammation or bruising. It is also not unusual to develop bruising around or close to the site of injection. Every care will be taken to ensure that you do not have any side effects, and although minimal you must be informed of the risks. Because of this we advise that you do have your treatment close to an important event.

What qualifications does Jacqui have?

Jacqui has been a nurse for 18 years and has over seven years’ experience in advanced aesthetics. Educated to masters level, Jacqui has been on basic, advanced and master class courses. Jacqui ensures she attends at least one aesthetics course a year generally in current treatments she is delivering as well as attending courses in new treatments. This ensures that the highest standards are maintained along with cutting edge techniques.

What is your cleaning regime?

The strictest standards are followed in infection prevention and control. The treatments are carried out in a clean environment. Your practitioner will be wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to protect both parties. Your skin will be cleansed prior to injection. Please do not be afraid to ask your practitioner to wash her hands in front of you.

Is profhilo treatment painful?

Jacqui has had this treatment in her face, neck and décolletage (clevage). It stings, the needle insertion is fine, but its the product which stings, some places more than others. It’s over very quickly by the time the next injection has started the previous one has stopped stinging. There is only tenderness after if you get a bruise but other than that forget you have had it done and wait for the magic to happen!

Can I have a topical anaesthetic prior to treatment?

If you absolutely cannot face the treatment without some anaesthetic cream then we will apply some. Please arrive 30 minutes before your appointment for this. The manufacturers (IBSA) ask us to try and avoid using it as the product is so pure they do not want the anaesthetic cream contaminating it.

Can I share a syringe of profhilo with anyone i.e. my friend/sister?

Absolutely not! Syringes of profhilo are single use only. Aside from the fact that you need all of the product to gain the best results, this is dangerous practice. Changing the needle does not protect from cross contamination. Please avoid any practitioner who offers this service for your own safety.

How much profhilo do I need?

Jacqui recommends a loading dose of three syringes. Each one 4 weeks apart. Following this you can enter the maintence programme which is one syringe every 3 - 4 months.

Can I have more than 2mls of profhilo at a time?

You can have profhilo treatment in your face, neck, hands, arms, stomach, knees and the décolletage. This is safe to do at the same time.

How long does the treatment take?

You will be in the clinic around 30 minutes but the actual injection takes no more than 5 minutes.

How quickly will I see the results?

You will notice the glow at around day 3 post injections- but it takes 12 weeks to reach optimum results.

How long does the effect last?

Profhilo has a unique way of working using innovative technology. Profhilo is injected into the skin where it will stay for three weeks. During this time it is working hard with the cells enabling remodeling. Treatment durations are recommended as above.

Am I too old for treatment?

Absolutely not - in fact the question should be, am I too young? It is not recommended to start profhilo until the age of 30 but there is no upwards age limit. As we age, skin becomes thinner and elasticity depletes. Hyaluronic acid has extensive hydration properties, so can help to restore lost volume and re-nourish the face.

"Had lip fillers from Jacqui today and I have to say what a great job she had done, not only did I need filler but jacqui also corrected my lips from filler I had elsewhere. Very professional lady who makes you feel at ease and talks you through everything she is doing. I'm over the moon with them and will definitely be back again"

Stacey Nichol

"I really feel that Jacqui advises people honestly to get the best treatment outcomes rather than make more money, she could have easily said yes you need the more expensive peel I trust her completely and will never go to anyone else now.."
